Sprinkler Rainbow

Sally in the skyflashed
swing, red ribbon breezing
half out her muddy
hair. She’s been rolling with stolen kitten
in squeals over leaky garden hose
flattening Mom’s peppermint shoots. O Sister’s
gonna get it when Mom flairs
out to drag the sprinkler. But a tiny green leaf
stuck to Sis’s forehead
sets off that trailing scarlet
to make Sally gleam a wild leprechaun
with kitten of dirty gold
on her lap in
sweeping sunflame.
