Self Prison

Burly fear
stands guard

securing my uncomfortable safety
behind dead-bolt memories and 
thick-barred traditions. But if,

in some courageous moment
of clarity, my imaginary walls fall,
what remains?

Fear guarding nothing.
Freedom everywhere.
