
Doris Gwaltney is the author of two adult novels,
Shakespeare's Sister, and
Duncan Browdie, Gent. Her middle-grade novel Homefront, was published
by Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers in 2006 . She also is the author of
A Mirror in Time--History in the First Personalong with a nonfiction work,
George Purdy, Merchant of Smithfield and many short stories and poems published
in various anthologies and journals. Doris has served as coordinator of the Christopher
Newport University Writers Conference and is currently on its advisory council. She
also teaches a writing class for Lifelong Learning at CNU. She has participated on
many writing panels and presented workshops at several writers' conferences, including
The Virginia Festival of the Book. Doris lives in Smithfield, VA.
