Cabinet of Curiosities

Since my youngest years my favorite 
fantasy is being a member of an ancient family, 
dwelling in an ancient manor house. 

One day I will wander into a wing nobody 
has entered for years, centuries. What I find there 
will strike me with delight, awe, even terror. 

Now I inhabit such a manor house; it’s called 
my mind. As I wander its corridors I encounter 
long-forgotten entities like these:
The poet Janet Lewis 
The Botanical Gardens of Rio de Janeiro 
My grandfather snoring in the doctor’s waiting room
Thoughts of the Jewish mystics on reincarnation

What treasures might I come upon tomorrow?
